just the facts

I know I talked about writing of something interesting or exciting or amusing on Saturday. It ain't gonna happen today! I had something in mind but time got away from me this morning and now I am just going to make this a quickie. One of the readers of my blog mentioned that they didn't know why I would have to lose weight with all the exercising I do. So here is why.... I was and still am exercising not to lose weight but to stay strong. Now of course the exercise along with what I am doing now is helping me to lose weight. When I first started exercising it was simply to keep me strong and able to move as well as I can with the MS I deal with. I believe I talked about how my mother who had MS did not exercise at all and ended up not being able to walk much at all. I didn't and don't want that to happen to me. So......in the past year I have been exercising more. Either three days a week at Curves or here at home with the hubby in our exercise room. The problem being, I was eating everything he ate. He has the metabolism of a hummingbird - not quite that good but I heard that said on TV and liked it! Anyway I was eating everything he ate and my portions were equal to what he was eating too.....BIG. I was walking good but getting heavier all the same. So I saw this thing on TV (which I watch too much) that talked about how fasting every other day was helping people drop weight. I decided to do that. I can't fast completely so I semi fast every other day and on the "eating" days I eat healthy and small portions. It has become so easy for me now that I enjoy eating this way and I am seeing great results. Lynn is eating less too just because I don't cook on my non eating days and he has to fend for himself. Our grocery bills are going down...another good thing. That is why I didn't lose weight when just exercising even though it was daily. So fasting (semi) has helped and I feel so much better. Not just because I am not as heavy but other problems I have had are disappearing too. Just the facts!

  1. Now I understand. I fast sometimes too. Have for quite a while. If I've had a bad day and eaten too much, the next day I'll fast. It's never bothered me. It is basically how I have been able to maintain my weight. Our Lady has asked us to fast when she appeared at Medjugorje and to offer it up.

  5. Hi Lois! Fasting sounds really hard right now but I used to fast on Friday's for spiritual reasons and had no problem doing it then. Good for you that you are seeing such great results. Both Tony and I have put on a few pounds with the wedding and Christmas and the parties and all.
