6 Words

Why do you love reading?  An article in the newspaper this morning prompted this blog for me.  Across the former county that we used to live in third-graders are working hard on reading skills.  The new state's Third-Grade Reading Guarantee, most third-graders who don't get strong enough reading scores on this year's achievement tests will be held back instead of advancing to fourth grade next school year.  So the reporter is encouraging people to inspire these youngsters about reading skills.  She wants people to share in 6 words Why You Love Reading.  Here are some examples.   Inspires ideas. Enriches life. Opens imagination (Tena Wilson)  Your opportunity to imagine your future. (Mike Hanke)  Books are windows to another world. (Joanne Muntean)  Go anywhere. Meet anyone. Learn everything. (Gayle Beck)  So what would your 6 words be? I do love reading and have a book going all the time.  When I was a little girl my Dad used to sit me on his lap and read the comics to me.  My Mom had a subscription to Readers Digest and would always read me articles.  I learned a lot just from that. We would laugh at...Laughter is the best medicine... in the Digest.  Reading was always encouraged and I learned early to love reading.  So I am going to attempt my 6 words.  I think they would be the following;  Escape, Inspire, Dream, Learn, Love, Explore.  Now you think about your 6 words, what are they?
