I started a new book today. I get free Nook books to read with my Nook. I am totally into reading the digital way. I am able to enlarge the print as needed. Plus I don't have to worry about a bookmark because when I stop reading it stays right there and is ready to open to where I left off when starting again. Super handy for me. Sometimes when reading I love the way things are put on the page. It is kind of magical and draws a picture of what is being said. Here is an example of what I am saying. June was settling into the summer of 1964 like an old hen spreading out her wings and plopping down in a puddle of dust for a good rest. Now isn't that descriptive? I love words. I think if I could start my life over I would try my hand at being a writer. Oh I know, lots of people start writing even at my age. I just don't have the things to write about that would interest anyone now days. Some of the books, well a lot of the books now days have such bad language in them. It is like a person has to use crass language to get their point across. I have started getting my free books with Christian themes just to avoid that language. I am always so pleased to read stories that have a great plot and tell a story without bad language. Gosh I guess I am getting old. I never was one to use bad language though. I am glad about that. I don't feel I need to use foul words to make my point. I just feel bad that some of the really good writers with the top books out there do. So I am just going to read my easy comfortable reads. The dog turned back to the cat, let out a thunderous bark that made the porch windows rattle, leaped straight up like a kangaroo, and popped Jezebel with his nose. Jezebel went flying off the rail and barely had time to get her feet under her before she splattered on the wooden porch. See what I mean?
I enjoy my Nook as well.
ReplyDeleteWhy wait to start life over? Try writing! Your stories of growing up were good and would be nice to see more of that.
At 45 I don't care to hear inappropriate language. It isn't an age thing at all. Well, maybe a little. I think it requires becoming adult in your thinking to realizing it isn't cool to curse. Unfortunately, there's a lot of old children running around out there.
ReplyDeleteToday, it is easier then ever to write a book and get it in circulation. Imagine a challange that might confront a life and then the funny things that might happen along with difficult things that a person might endure and the people and places along the way of experincing that life. Write sbout that. Enjoy the words and enjoy the process. If people read it, great. If they don't that's fine too. What's important is that you enjoyed it. You are never too old to do something you like! Unless you can't do it. I am beginning to realize there are more of those types of things creeping up on me. :(
