just jabbering

I was listening to the news the other day and they were talking about the turbulent 60's and the loss of innocence and of course I lived through it.  The 50's were really innocent and even though I was very young then I remember just how nice it was.  No locked doors, walking after dark without a care, mother's still at home and not in the work force.  Father's that stuck around and raised their children.  Anyway, it was a nice time to live.  Then the 60's and the beginning of hippies and lots of drugs, and rebellion and all that.  Then the 70's where everyone did everything that felt good and forgot some of their morals and respect.  The opulent  80's where money was spent like there was no tomorrow and the "you had to have it"  mentality.  The 90's we lived with all the 80's "stuff" and thought it would last forever.  Now look at us!  Learning we have to watch what we spend.  Thinking saving is maybe better than not.  Cutting coupons.  Making one trip out to do numerous things so you don't spend too much on gas which is so much more costly than back in those 50's 60's,70's,80's even some of the 90's! Cooking at home more than before and not eating out.   So...what did I do today?  I went out and bought some long sleeved tops for the coming cold weather and one bra and spent twice maybe more than I would have spent  last year.  And....will my SS go up this year after two years of not...I think not.  Ah well.

  1. Prices are ridiculous.
I remember when ground beef first went up to 99cents and we were all hysterical over it and so they made that awful meat extender rather than lower prices and they have never stopped going up since.
I paid 15 a week for groceries when I was first married. Now that buys nothing.
