Birdie Problems

So the beginning of another week.  I did something wrong I think....and now I am trying to right things so my hummingbirds will again visit my feeders.  I had my feeders out in plenty of time for the little birds but in my zeal to make their feeders clean I washed them in the dishwasher.  I think that was a mistake.  I noticed recently that I have a couple plastic bowls that don't do well in the dishwasher.  They seem to get soap permeated into them and I have to scrub them by hand to get rid of the soap residue.  When I saw this I thought.....wonder if that happened to my feeders which are also plastic?  The birds might have tried them and rejected them and decided not to try again!  Well, yesterday I made a trip over to the store and bought two new feeders.  I put new nectar in them and they are out waiting for the birds to try again.  My next door neighbor has birds coming to her feeders.  I have had them every year for 15 years so I am afraid I did something wrong when I cleaned the old feeders.  I sure hope they give me another chance.  I so enjoy sitting here in my room looking out the windows watching them.  This is the only thing different I have done so I have to think this is why they are not showing up here.  I will try not to take it personally..!!!  Have you ever had an experience like this?  Oh and all the neighbors that have had feeders out each year has never kept them from also feeding here. So that is not the problem.  I have flowers that attract hummers coming up now and today I planted some morning glories so I am doing all I can.  Wish me luck.
