Cat "tailes"

My home seems to be a great place for cats to come visit.  Isn't it awful when people drop off cats and figure they are going to fend for themselves?  In our area a lot of people seem to do that.  My back yard is fenced in but of course an agile cat can jump over the fence and come in.  For years they have used the space behind our shed to give birth.  The back of the shed is up close to the back of the garage so it shelters them from the weather and predators and....well, me!  Our latest visitor was a gray tiger cat.  A big black with white paws has been here for a long time.  He even sleeps on my glider on the front porch.  Well a while back the black cat was in the back yard  by my door.  He looked in, scratched his chin on the deck post and suddenly spotted the gray tiger!  He crouched down and slowly stalked over to where the other cat was laying under a tree in the yard.  I thought a cat fight was about to happen!  Instead when he reached the other cat he gently patted her twitching tail.  Then they laid down beside each other and just seemed to be enjoying each others company.  While I was watching and enjoying suddenly two black kittens romped into view!  They were so cute.  Then I looked out another window closer to the shed and saw another black kitten and two gray tiger kittens.  Five babies and it was obvious who the parents were.  Over the past weeks I have enjoyed looking out the window seeing the mother cat tending to the kitties and the male cat keeping watch too.  Alas now they have left.  Grown up and off to other places.  It was so interesting watching them and I miss them.  Of course the big black male is still around now and then.  He likes my porch for sleeping.  Now I see another black cat hanging around.  Smaller and I am thinking a female.  So one of these days I may have more kittens to watch.  I am so tempted to take one but the hubby threatens dire results if I do...He is right, our pet days are over.  We can't afford the extra cost of properly caring for a pet but I am enjoying my visitors.  So having a good life enjoying nature and counting blessings.  May you have a good week coming up.

  1. Sounds like you enjoyed watching the little kittens for a short time romp around in your yard.
I can understand that they would be fun to watch.
It is a shame that you can't have another one as pets are such nice company and fun too but they definitely can get quit expensive too so I can understand that too. Enjoy your week ahead. Hugs.

  2. The vet bills can be outrageous. Its hard not to have a pet and I know I will be lonely when my Garfield is gone. I hope that never happens.
God sends them to your house for a safe haven perhaps. He knows you will be kind to them. At least thats how I think of it.
