Who is that mysterious stranger? He comes daily. He upsets my husband who slams the lazy boy chair to an upright position and dashes to the window to chase the "stranger" away. Our usual quiet life has been filled with explanations of chagrin and emotional out bursts and banging on windows. What has caused all this upheaval in our lives? This....

I had to look up this picture on line to find out what kind of bird it is. A Baltimore Oriole. This is a picture of a male and it is just like the bird we have been seeing. Why am I upset with this beautiful bird? Well of all things he is landing on my hummingbird feeder and dipping his beak into the teeny tiny hole and it comes up dripping so I think he is actually getting some. Plus since he is not a tiny hummer he is knocking the feeder off balance and what nectar he doesn't get splashes out on the ground. I am making more nectar to replace what he is getting and what is spilling on the ground and the hummingbirds are still coming. I have told the hubby I am willing to work harder at seeing to it that the feeder is full just to see the beautiful oriole. I am not sure he feels the same way but this is nature at its best...I think. What a summer it has been so far. Kitties born in my yard..hummingbirds making a late appearance because of my cleaning feeders wrong. Now a bird I have never seen in my yard coming daily for a visit. Live is good!
Orioles are beautiful birds! You are lucky to have one visit. I have never seen one in person. I wish I could.
