So another Valentine Day is on the horizon. My longest friend and her husband will be celebrating their wedding anniversary on that day. I remember when I was caring for my mother and this was one of the days she liked getting a box of candy from me. Every year it was the same, Russel Stover Candy. Not one of my favorites except for the price which was very affordable. Now that I think back maybe that is why she asked for it knowing it would not be a hardship for me to buy it. She was always thoughtful that way so that might very well have been the reason. I am not expecting anything. For one thing the hubby and I are at the age where if we want something and can afford it we get it no matter what day. In fact when he is out and about he brings me home a Lindor Chocolate Truffle just because he knows I love them. I only had a heart shaped box of chocolates once in my life and it was from a boyfriend before I was married. Ah well....love is in the air for a lot of young people this coming Thursday and for a lot of others who like to celebrate this day. May I wish all a Happy Valentines Day and may your wishes and wants happen.

My father brought home big boxes of candy in hearts for my mother, my grandmother and me. It was not just about Valentines Day, it was just an excuse to give us something pretty and sweet for him.
ReplyDeleteI had a friend who gave me a box of candy each year on my birthday. She thought it was a cheap kind of gift and was always a bit embarrassed. We were in grade school at the time. To me, it was the greatest gift ever and I would look forward to those candies!
I often think about that now that I no longer see her anymore.
