Forgiveness/strength

I saw something really insightful in the paper this weekend.  In our area a woman was sentenced to eight years in prison for drunk driving.  Now this is bad of course, both the driving while drunk and the sentence to prison (deserved).  She did kill a mother of two children and the husband is left to raise two small children without his wife and the mother of his children.  The thing that made this worth writing about is the husband was at the sentencing and he presented the woman with a Bible engraved with her name and urged her not to let it collect dust.  He said let it be your instruction manual on how to live your life.  And through studying, may you feel God's comfort, wisdom, love...and forgiveness.  Isn't that something?  The writer of this article reminded us that this tragedy was turned into a testimony to the power of forgiveness.  I was also a great lesson for his children.  The newly single father did not suggest that the woman shouldn't be punished for driving drunk but he did show her what forgiveness was.  Could I have done something like this if something like that happened in my life?  Could you?  I would like to think I could because after all that is what we are called on to do.

  1. Wow that man showed has a heart of mercy and grace. I sure hope he has a strong support system to help him and I suspect he does. Thanks for sharing.

  2. Boy I don't know if I could do that or not. Especially when it was so fresh in my mind.
I'm glad she was sentenced to 8years in prison and even then I'm not sure that's enough. He was a very brave man. God was blessing him. Wow.
