The next holiday

Thanksgiving is over and now it is time to think of the next holiday.  Our family this year has decided to draw names and we have even created a group on Facebook just for our family to name three things we would like to have.  Then the person that has our name will have something to look for that would be appreciated.  I hope this all works out the way we have it planned.  We set a certain amount to spend and it was agreed on that all would be able to handle what we decided on.  Thank heaven we have more that we do during the holiday that doesn't  consist of gifts.  I mean there is a reason for the season....if you get what I am saying.  It isn't just Santa Claus and getting gifts.  It is sometimes hard for little ones to understand that with all the pushing and shoving on Black Friday and all the commercialism.  I enjoy the decorations and the festivities and fun and family this time of year.  The bad side though is how much is prohibited in the name of being politically correct.  We need to remember our faith and what this season means to us.  I am Christian and I believe a certain way.  I also have many friends of the Jewish faith and I love how they celebrate this time of year also.  It all boils down to it being a religious time of love and giving and sharing and I love it all.

  1. Hi Lois, I came by way of Annie. I think your ideas of names is great. We might have to go that route someday. I also agree with the real reason of the season. I have a few ornaments that say that and I have it on my blog. I am also teaching that to my grandkids, Have a nice week.

  2. Children are missing out when God is kept out of the picture in public. In school years ago we said the pledge, read from Psalms and said a prayer, sang a song too. Nowadays that is not 'correct' but we did better in those days I think.
