Heavy Sighs

A day to remember.  I had a doctor's appointment today.  Not one that I was expecting or looking forward to.  You see a week or so ago I decided I had put off going for my yearly mammogram too long.  So being the ever diligent person I try to be I called and made my appointment.  Before I hung up the girl says did I tell you that you need to get an order from your doctor to bring with you?  Well, no she hadn't told me that.  She then assured me my doctor who she was familiar with would have no problem giving it to me, she was sure.  So my next call was to my doctor and I told his nurse what I needed.  She informed me that she couldn't get that for me until I came in for a breast exam.  Heavy sigh....so I made an appointment for before I had the mammogram appointment.  All was well, I thought.  Then a few days later my doctor's office calls and tells me he is not going to be there the day they scheduled me for.  I had to try and get an appointment before the day I was to have the mammogram.  So, all was well and the appointment was made.  Before I hung up she said..so we will see you at 10:30 on Monday for your breast exam and pap!  Pap!!!!  I was only told I had to have a breast exam to get the orders for the mammogram!!  CRAP!!  Well so as not to fight the system I said okay and today I went to have all this done.  Now mind you this was to be done by my family doctor, not my gynecologist.  My family doctor is a nice looking man my son's age.  Just what I wanted to do.  I guess when you get to the "seasoned citizen" age you shouldn't care one way or the other who is examining you.  So..its done and now on Friday I go for the mammogram.  Then Saturday a hair appointment and Saturday evening.......Class reunion!  Oh a little side thing here.  While at the doctors I said "Do I have to have any blood work done today?"  He said " I should check your thyroid again and you know what?  With my MS patients I like to have the Vitamin D looked at."  I said "I know, you gave me an order for having that done but I never did it.  I do take vitamin D supplements."  He said "Well since you didn't go have that done I am writing another order for it and they can do your other blood work while there!"  So now I have to go the the hospital for that blood work since I didn't do what he told me to do before.  Vitamin D has to be checked at the hospital.  Heavy sigh .....again.

  1. Sometimes it seems like nothing goes right.
I hope everything turns out nicely for you.
    Class reunion sounds exciting.
Vitamin D is cropping up as important all over the place it seems.
Have a great week Lois and I hope the reunion turns out well.

  2. Why do you have to go to the hospital for blood work? Why can't they just do it at the doctors office? They do my yearly blood work right at my doctor's office. He also does my breast exam and pap smear too and he is my son's age too. It feels weird but he's a good doc and we really like him, but he is really far from the house we live in now. I would like to find one closer to where we are now but Terry doesn't want to change.
