Happy Memorial Day

A day to remember those who served and gave their lives so that we might have freedom.

A new word in Oxford Dictionary  FOMO.....Fear of Missing Out

Some thoughts going through my mind today pertaining to FOMO.   Yesterday in church this  was in the sermon.  It was based on Romans 12:1-2 and Romans 12: 2-3.  " I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all He has done for you.  Let them be a living and holy sacrifice-the kind He will find acceptable." and "Let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think."    People today are so involved with Facebook and other social media like Twitter that they feel the need to always check their phones or computers or tablets.  The fear of missing out on something or FOMO.   We need to fear missing out on God's teachings and lessons for our lives.  With FOMO  I found this to be amusing but also some what frightening  on where we are today.  I can remember when words put in the dictionary were actual words.  Not initials like people use for everything today.  Texting has done away with actual language skills and writing skills.  Have you noticed television commercials lately?  So many commercials for drugs with conditions that are expressed with letters.  Example...ED, COPD, DVT, PE,OAB, etc.  I wonder what the coming years are going to bring.  I have learned over the years that what is old is new again and maybe that will happen.  Language skills and speaking well will be new again. Oh, and yes maybe we won't fear missing out anymore!

You are so right. World spends too much time on diversions and not enough time with God.
